TallUp stores all of your data (profile, measurements, metrics, settings) locally on your device, in a local database. TallUp has no backend and never sends your data anywhere.
The only copy that can leave your phone is the one made by your own device backup — iCloud on iOS, Google One on Android — which is enabled and controlled by you, in your own account, and never accessible to us. You can exclude TallUp from it in your device settings.
TallUp requires no account and collects no personal data. The app contains no advertising SDK and no cross-app tracking. Two services receive something from the app, both as our processors and nothing more: RevenueCat for purchases (see Purchases) and TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage statistics (see Usage statistics below).
One nuance, stated plainly. TallUp is built with standard Google and Apple platform components — local reminders, in-app purchases, the store rating prompt. Some of them bundle Google Play services that are able to read a technical device identifier. TallUp never asks for one, never reads one and never receives one: reminders are scheduled entirely on your device and there is no push server anywhere. Google nevertheless requires this to be declared whenever such a component ships inside an app, which is why the Play Store listing shows "Device or other IDs" under collected data. Nothing is shared with third parties, and none of your measurements, profile, metrics or journal entries ever leave your device.
Adult-height estimates are statistical calculations performed entirely on your device, based on the information you enter. They are not a medical diagnosis and do not replace advice from a health professional.
Premium subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing on Android and by the Apple App Store on iOS, through RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, random identifier generated on your device and the store's purchase receipts, so that your subscription can be validated and restored on a new device. It receives no name, e-mail, measurement or any other data, and we use it for no other purpose (RevenueCat privacy policy). TallUp itself receives no payment or identity information; the store's own privacy policy applies to the transaction.
To understand which screens are used and where people stop, TallUp sends anonymous usage statistics to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service based in Germany whose servers are in the European Union (TelemetryDeck privacy policy). What is sent: the name of an event (for example "onboarding step shown", "paywall shown", "purchase cancelled"), the app version, the operating system and its version, the app language, whether Premium is active, and one identifier. That identifier is a random number generated on your device, hashed (SHA-256) before it leaves the phone; it is linked to no account, no e-mail and no device id; it is deleted with "Erase all data" and replaced by a new one at least every 13 months. What is never sent: no height, weight, birth date, age, sex, name, parents' or dream heights, no note, journal or metric — nothing you enter in the app, with one exception: whether the app is used for yourself or for a child (the first setup question), sent as "self" or "child" — never an age or a name. TelemetryDeck uses no cookies and no cross-app tracking. You can switch these statistics off at any time in Settings → About → Anonymous usage statistics.
You can permanently erase all data at any time from Settings → Erase all data, or by uninstalling the app.
TallUp is intended for users aged 13 and over, and for parents tracking their children's growth. Since nothing you enter is ever transmitted to us, no personal data of any user — minor or adult — is collected or processed by us; the usage statistics described above contain nothing you enter (except whether the app is used for yourself or for a child) and nothing that names you; their single random identifier is pseudonymous (it names no one, but it is specific to the app on your device), it is renewed at least every 13 months, and you can switch the statistics off at any time.
